Coinbase Faces Decline in Q2 Profit Amid Slower Trading Activity

Coinbase reported a drop in second-quarter adjusted profit, with earnings declining to $33.2 million, or $0.12 per share, compared to $294.4 million, or $1.1 per share, in the same quarter last year. The result fell short of the $1.51 per share expected by analysts, according to data from FactSet. Quarterly revenue reached $1.5 billion, missing the consensus estimate of $1.59 billion and marking a decline of roughly 26% from Q1.

Coinbase saw some resilience in its subscription and services revenue, which rose 9.5% year-over-year to approximately $656 million. Interest income related to stablecoins was a contributor, increasing to $332 million from $240 million a year earlier.

Several analysts expressed caution about Coinbase’s valuation and growth trajectory. Morningstar analyst Michael Miller wrote, “We see the shares as significantly overvalued. We believe that the market is projecting too much future growth for the firm.” Similarly, analyst Mike Colonnese at H.C. Wainwright noted that “investor enthusiasm had reached a ‘fever pitch’ heading into last night’s results, as valuation has detached from underlying fundamentals.”

Alnylam Sees Growth in Q2 2025 as More Patients Start Treatment for Rare Heart Disease

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals reported $672 million in product sales for the second quarter of 2025, marking a 64% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This increase was primarily associated with AMVUTTRA, a treatment for transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR), a rare condition that affects the nerves or heart.

Sales of AMVUTTRA reached $492 million in the quarter. By the end of June, approximately 1,400 patients with the heart-related form of the disease (ATTR-CM) had started the treatment. AMVUTTRA was also approved in additional regions during the quarter, including the European Union, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Japan. ONPATTRO, another approved treatment for ATTR, generated $53 million in revenue. Two other rare disease treatments, GIVLAARI and OXLUMO, brought in a combined $128 million, representing a 24% increase year-over-year.

ATTR is caused by a buildup of abnormal transthyretin protein in the body. It can lead to damage in the heart (ATTR-CM) or nerves (hATTR-PN). According to estimates, over 400,000 people globally may have the cardiac form of the condition, though many remain undiagnosed.

Following the results from the first half of the year, Alnylam raised its full-year revenue forecast to a range of $2.65 billion to $2.8 billion.
