Academy Sports and Outdoors Reports Quarterly Earnings and Revises Full-Year Forecast

Academy Sports and Outdoors reported second quarter net sales of $1.6 billion, up 3.3% from $1.55 billion in the prior year and in line with consensus estimates. Comparable sales increased 0.2%, compared with a 6.9% decline in the same period last year. eCommerce sales rose 17.7%, while newly opened stores delivered positive mid-single-digit growth. The company opened three new stores during the quarter, bringing its total to 306 across 21 states.

Net income was $125.4 million, down 12.1% year over year. Diluted earnings per share were $1.85, compared with $1.95 last year, a decline of 5.1%. Adjusted earnings per share were $1.94, missing the analyst estimate of $2.16 by $0.22.

For the first half of fiscal 2025, net sales reached $2.95 billion, a 1.3% increase over the prior year. Comparable sales decreased 1.7%, following a 6.4% decline last year. Net income for the six-month period was $171.5 million, down 21.7% from $219.1 million, while diluted earnings per share declined to $2.52 from $2.93. Inventory at quarter end was $1.59 billion, up 16.2% from the prior year.

Looking ahead, Academy Sports guided full-year 2026 earnings per share to a range of $5.6 to $6.3, versus the consensus of $5.85, and revenue of $6 to $6.27 billion, compared with the consensus of $6.09 billion.

Zscaler Delivers Q4 and Fiscal 2025 Earnings and Sets Q1 2026 Projections

Zscaler reported fourth quarter revenue of $719.2 million, up 21% from the prior year and above the consensus estimate of $706.95 million. Annual Recurring Revenue reached $3.02 billion, reflecting a 22% increase, while calculated billings rose 32% year-over-year to $1.2 billion. Deferred revenue grew 30% to $2.47 billion.

Zscaler posted a net loss of $17.6 million compared with a loss of $14.9 million in the prior year, translating to earnings per share of ($0.11), which was $0.91 below the analyst estimate of $0.80. Adjusted net income was $146.7 million versus $115.8 million in the same period last year, with adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.89 compared with $0.72.

Operating income was $158.9 million, or 22% of revenue, while operating cash flow rose to $250.6 million, or 35% of revenue. Free cash flow totaled $171.9 million, or 24% of revenue, compared with $136.3 million a year earlier.

For the full fiscal year 2025, revenue reached $2.67 billion, up 23% from fiscal 2024. Zscaler reported a net loss of $41.5 million compared with a loss of $57.7 million in the prior year, while adjusted net income was $534.8 million versus $414.6 million. Diluted earnings per share were a loss of $0.27, compared with a loss of $0.39 last year, while adjusted diluted earnings per share rose to $3.28 from $2.6. Cash provided by operations was $972.5 million, or 36% of revenue, with free cash flow of $726.7 million, or 27% of revenue.

Looking ahead, the company expects first quarter fiscal 2026 earnings per share of $0.85 to $0.86 compared with the consensus estimate of $0.84, and revenue of $772 million to $774 million, above the consensus of $750.9 million.

Constellation Brands Cuts Fiscal 2026 Outlook as Consumer Demand Weakens

Constellation Brands lowered its fiscal 2026 financial guidance, citing weaker consumer demand and macroeconomic headwinds. The company now expects reported diluted EPS between $10.77 and $11.07, compared with its prior forecast of $12.07 to $12.37. Comparable EPS guidance was also revised downward to a range of $11.3 to $11.6, from the previous $12.6 to $12.9.

Management projects enterprise organic net sales to decline 6% to 4%, a sharper contraction than the earlier estimate of a 2% decline to 1% growth. Reported operating income is projected to grow between 666% and 686%, but comparable operating income is now expected to fall 11% to 9%, steeper than the prior 3% to 1% decline.

Beer operating income is projected to decrease 9% to 7%, reflecting lower volumes, operating deleveraging, and higher tariffs. Constellation also reduced its outlook for free cash flow to $1.3 billion to $1.4 billion, down from $1.5 billion to $1.6 billion, and operating cash flow to $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion, from $2.7 billion to $2.8 billion. Corporate expenses were revised downward to $225 million from $265 million, while net interest expense is expected at approximately $370 million versus $385 million previously.
