Medtronic Q1 FY26 Results Beat Expectations; EPS Guidance Raised 

Medtronic plc reported first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $8.58 billion, compared with consensus estimates of $8.38 billion. Adjusted revenue was $8.54 billion, up 8.4% from the prior year, or 4.8% on an organic basis. Quarterly earnings per share (EPS) were $1.26, exceeding analyst expectations of $1.23 by $0.03, and marking a 2% increase from the same period last year.

Net income rose to $1.63 billion from $1.59 billion a year earlier, while operating profit totaled $2.02 billion, a 3% increase, with an operating margin of 23.6%. Segment performance included $3.29 billion from the cardiovascular portfolio, up 9.3%; $2.42 billion in neuroscience, up 4.3%; $2.08 billion in medical surgical, up 4.4%; and $721 million from the diabetes business, up 11.5%.Cardiac Ablation Solutions grew nearly 50% globally, with U.S. revenue up 72%.

Medtronic reiterated its full-year revenue growth forecast of approximately 5% but raised its earnings guidance to a range of $5.6–$5.66 per share, compared with consensus estimates of $5.55 and its prior forecast of $5.5–$5.6. Medtronic also projected a smaller impact from tariffs, estimating $185 million compared with the previous range of $200 million to $350 million.

Amer Sports Reports Revenue Growth in Q2 2025, Raises Full-Year Guidance

Amer Sports reported second quarter 2025 revenue of $1.24 billion, up 23% from the prior year and 22% on a constant currency basis, and above consensus expectations. Earnings per share came in at $0.06, $0.08 higher than analyst estimates of a $0.02 loss.

By segment, Technical Apparel revenue increased 23% to $509 million, Outdoor Performance grew 35% to $414 million, and Ball & Racquet Sports rose 11% to $314 million. Gross margin expanded 270 basis points to 58.5%, while operating profit improved to $44 million from $6 million in the prior year.

Net income reached $18 million, compared with a $4 million loss in the same quarter of 2024. Inventories ended the quarter at $1.6 billion, up 29% year-over-year, with $303 million in cash and cash equivalents and net debt of $640 million.

For the third quarter of 2025, Amer Sports expects earnings per share of $0.2 to $0.22, compared with a consensus estimate of $0.21, along with approximately 20% revenue growth, gross margin of 56.5%, and operating margin between 12% and 13%.

Full-year 2025 guidance has also been raised, with revenue growth projected at 20% to 21%, gross margin near 57.5%, and EPS in the range of $0.77 to $0.82, versus a consensus of $0.78. By segment, Technical Apparel revenue is forecast to grow 22–25% with a 21% margin, Outdoor Performance 22–25% with an 11–11.5% margin, and Ball & Racquet Sports 7–9% with a 3–4% margin.

 

Analysts Maintain Ratings on Amer Sports as Price Targets Rise by 3% on Average

Alcon Reports Q2 2025 Results with Sales Growth and Lower Operating Margin

Alcon reported second-quarter 2025 net sales of $2.6 billion, an increase of 4% compared with $2.5 billion in the same period of 2024. Sales rose 3% on a constant currency basis. By segment, Surgical revenue was $1.5 billion, up 2% year over year, with implantables down 2% to $456 million, consumables up 6% to $777 million, and equipment roughly flat at $222 million. 

Vision Care revenue was $1.1 billion, a 6% increase, led by a 9% rise in contact lens sales to $692 million and a 2% increase in ocular health sales to $430 million. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.35, compared with $0.45 in the prior year, while adjusted earnings were $0.76, slightly above $0.74 in the same quarter of 2024. Operating income was $247 million, down from $318 million a year earlier, reflecting a margin decline from 12.8% to 9.6%.

For the first half of 2025, net sales totaled $5 billion, a 2% increase compared with $4.9 billion in the same period of 2024. Operating income was $715 million, up from $686 million, with an operating margin of 14.2% versus 13.9% last year. Diluted earnings per share for the six-month period were $1.06, compared with $0.95 a year earlier.

Cash flow from operations reached $889 million, while free cash flow was $681 million, both slightly above the prior year’s $871 million and $667 million, respectively. Alcon returned $287 million to shareholders during the quarter through $166 million in dividends and $121 million in share repurchases.
