Amazon Surpasses Q4 Earnings Expectations, Projects Lower Q1 2025 Revenue Guidance

Amazon.com reported its financial results posting earnings per share (EPS) of $1.86 for Q4, beating the consensus estimate of $1.47 by $0.39. Revenue for the quarter reached $187.8 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $187.33 billion.

Net sales increased 10% year-over-year, with North America sales rising by 10% to $115.6 billion and International sales up 8% to $43.4 billion, or 9% when excluding currency changes. Amazon Web Services (AWS) continued its performance, delivering a 19% sales increase to $28.8 billion. Operating income grew to $21.2 billion, up from $13.2 billion in Q4 2023, driven by AWS’s $10.6 billion contribution.

For the full year, net sales rose 11% to $638.0 billion. AWS led the growth with $107.6 billion in revenue, marking a 19% increase. Full-year operating income nearly doubled to $68.6 billion, driven by AWS’s $39.8 billion contribution. Net income for the year reached $59.2 billion, or $5.53 per diluted share, compared to $30.4 billion, or $2.90 per share, in 2023. Amazon also achieved a 36% increase in operating cash flow to $115.9 billion.

Looking ahead, Amazon projects Q1 2025 revenue between $151.0 billion and $155.5 billion, below the consensus estimate of $158.33 billion, partly due to a projected $2.1 billion foreign exchange impact. Operating income for the quarter is expected to range between $14.0 billion and $18.0 billion.

BILL Reports Strong Q2 Performance, Beats EPS and Revenue Estimates

BILL delivered financial results for its second fiscal quarter ending December 31, 2024. Total revenue reached $362.6 million, surpassing the consensus estimate of $359.53 million and marking a 14% year-over-year increase.

Core revenue, consisting of subscription and transaction fees, grew 16% to $319.6 million, with transaction fees rising 19% to $251.9 million. BILL reported an EPS of $0.56, beating analysts’ expectations by $0.10. Gross profit totaled $295.9 million, with an 81.6% gross margin, while non-GAAP gross profit came in at $308.9 million, representing an 85.2% gross margin. Also it reduced its operating loss to $21.7 million, compared to $67.7 million in the same period last year, while non-GAAP operating income surged 41.8% to $62.8 million.

BILL served 481,300 businesses and processed $84 billion in payment volume, up 13% year-over-year. BILL repurchased approximately 2.3 million shares for $200 million and retired $585 million in convertible senior notes. For Q3 2025, BILL projects EPS between $0.35 and $0.38, above the $0.34 consensus, and revenue between $352.5 million and $357.5 million, below the $360.4 million consensus.

Full-year fiscal 2025 guidance includes EPS in the range of $1.87 to $1.97, beating the consensus of $1.78, with total revenue expected to reach between $1.454 billion and $1.469 billion, aligning with the consensus estimate of $1.46 billion.

e.l.f. Beauty Reports Q3 2024 Growth but Lowers Full-Year Guidance Amid Softer Sales Trends

e.l.f. Beauty posted Q3 2024 results, with net sales rising 31% year-over-year to $355.3 million, surpassing Wall Street’s expectation of $329.03 million. The increase was driven by performance in both retailer and e-commerce channels across the U.S. and international markets. 

Gross margins improved by 40 basis points to 71%, supported by cost savings and favorable foreign exchange impacts. However, e.l.f. company reported a Q3 EPS of $0.74, missing analysts’ estimate of $0.77 by $0.03. Adjusted net income for the quarter was $43 million, translating to an adjusted EPS of $0.74, but GAAP net income declined to $17.3 million, or $0.30 per share, compared to $26.9 million, or $0.46 per share, a year earlier, due to higher SG&A expenses and increased foreign currency exchange losses.

For fiscal 2025 guidance, e.l.f. forecasts annual sales between $1.3 billion and $1.31 billion, below analysts’ expectations of $1.34 billion, and adjusted EPS of $3.27 to $3.32, compared to the consensus of $3.61.
