Selected Stock Price Target News — August 25, 2026
Two analysts moved across semiconductors on Tuesday, and they moved in opposite directions. NVIDIA ($NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices ($AMD) both drew higher targets from the same desk. Applied Materials ($AMAT) had its target cut. All of it landed the day before NVIDIA reports.
NVIDIA Reports Wednesday And Raymond James Lifts Its Target Into The Print
NVIDIA sells graphics processors and the data center systems built around them. Data Center is now the bulk of the company. First quarter revenue reached $81.6 billion, up 85 percent from a year earlier. Data Center alone brought in $75.2 billion, a gain of 92 percent. Non-GAAP diluted earnings were $1.87 a share. Reported earnings came to $2.39. That larger figure carries $15.9 billion of gains on equity securities, which the non-GAAP number strips out. NVIDIA guided the current quarter to $91.0 billion, plus or minus 2 percent. That guide excludes Data Center compute revenue from China.
The company reports those results on Wednesday, after the close. Today’s note was written into that event.
NVIDIA’s Stock Price Target News Today
Simon Leopold of Raymond James kept his Strong Buy on NVIDIA. He also pushed his price target from $330 to $352. He made that move today. His stated reason was CPU revenue. He puts it at roughly 3 percent of sales now, reaching about 5 percent by calendar 2028.
Leopold has reached 85.13 percent of his price targets across 688 targets and ratings on 25 stocks. He takes 461 days on average to get there. His targets have carried an average potential upside of 33.36 percent. NVIDIA’s covering analysts as a group are less accurate but far quicker, at 79.99 percent and 144.3 days.
His new $352 sits above the group average of $300.40. The two targets set most recently before his are both lower. Kevin Cassidy of Rosenblatt carries Buy at $325. He has reached 24 of his last 32 targets, in 140 days on average. John Vinh of KeyBank holds Buy at $330, at 30 of 39. Both set those numbers on 23 August. Still, the highest target on NVIDIA is $500, so Leopold’s number sits well inside the range.
NVIDIA closed the prior session at $208.48. Its 38 analysts split 96.79 percent Buy and 3.21 percent Hold. The activity chart behind that holds 1,630 price targets and 1,205 ratings.
AMD Data Center Revenue Doubles And The Same Analyst Upgrades It
AMD builds processors and graphics chips. Its customers run data centers, personal computers and gaming consoles. Second quarter revenue came in at $11.536 billion, up 50 percent from a year earlier. Data Center revenue was $6.718 billion. That line more than doubled, growing 107 percent. Non-GAAP diluted earnings were $1.66 a share, against $1.38 reported. Non-GAAP gross margin held at 56 percent. AMD then guided the current quarter to roughly $13 billion, give or take $300 million.
AMD’s Stock Price Target News Today
Leopold upgraded AMD to Strong Buy from Outperform. He also lifted his price target from $565 to $641. Both landed today, hours after his NVIDIA note. Until this morning he rated AMD a notch below NVIDIA. Now the two carry the same rating from him.
AMD’s covering analysts have met 93.77 percent of their targets, averaging 180.68 days. Set against the NVIDIA group’s 79.99 percent, that is a much stronger record. The average target on AMD is $496.39, against a prior close of $456.75. Leopold’s $641 sits above that average. Cassidy carries the highest number named here at $700, having hit 7 of his last 9 in 127 days. The full range on AMD runs from $260 to $725. So $641 lands near the top without reaching it.
Coverage stands at 30 analysts, split 75.23 percent Buy and 24.77 percent Hold. The activity chart holds 1,025 price targets and 847 ratings.
Applied Materials Posts Record Revenue And Mizuho Trims Anyway
Applied Materials sells the equipment chipmakers use to manufacture wafers. Its Semiconductor Systems arm is the largest piece. Third quarter revenue was a record $9.115 billion, up 25 percent from a year earlier. Semiconductor Systems contributed $7.040 billion of that. Within it, foundry and logic made up 67 percent, DRAM 26 percent and flash memory 7 percent. Non-GAAP diluted earnings were $3.50 a share, a rise of 41 percent, with $3.17 reported. Non-GAAP gross margin came in at 50.4 percent. The company guided the current quarter to $10.250 billion, plus or minus $500 million. It put non-GAAP earnings at $4.02 a share.
Applied Materials’ Stock Price Target News Today
Vijay Rakesh of Mizuho held his Outperform on Applied Materials. He took his price target down from $650 to $590. He made that call today. It was not an isolated one.
Rakesh trimmed five semiconductor names in under ten minutes. He cut Micron from $1,375 to $1,300, MKS from $360 to $330, SanDisk from $1,900 to $1,875, and Lam Research ($LRCX) from $370 to $365. Every one of them stayed at Outperform.
Among the three companies here, Leopold’s AMD call was the only rating change.
Rakesh has met 85.08 percent of his price targets across 2,405 targets and ratings on 38 stocks. He averages 248 days, a little over half the time Leopold takes. His average potential upside runs 24.21 percent. Applied Materials’ covering analysts are the most accurate group of the three names here, at 96.1 percent, though they need 240.72 days.
The new $590 lands below the group average of $602.02. Charles Shi of Needham sits far above it, holding Buy at $740. Shi has reached 10 of his last 12 targets. The full range on Applied Materials runs from $190 to $900. So the cut moves within a wide band rather than to the bottom of it.
Applied Materials closed the prior session at $484.19. Its 22 analysts split 88.5 percent Buy and 11.5 percent Hold. The activity chart holds 823 price targets and 600 ratings.
That closes today’s price target news. NVIDIA’s results land after Wednesday’s close. The analyst price target dataset holds the underlying record for every name above.
