CarMax, MongoDB, Cisco Price Targets, September 30 2026

CarMax (KMX)

CarMax runs the largest network of used-vehicle superstores in the country. It buys, fixes up and sells cars. It also runs its own auto finance arm and a wholesale auction business for dealers. The Richmond, Virginia company carries a market cap near $8.41 billion.

CarMax reported fiscal second-quarter results yesterday, a Tuesday, before the opening bell. EPS came in at $1.16 against a $0.73 consensus, a 43-cent beat. Revenue reached $7.88 billion versus $7.03 billion expected, per StreetInsider. The next report is due December 18. That beat followed a Q1 beat in June, when EPS topped estimates by 35 cents on the same fiscal-year comparison. CarMax’s fiscal year ends in February, so this was its second quarter of fiscal 2027.

The same week, CarMax named a new digital chief. It also promoted a strategy executive. Both moves are part of a push to unify how customers buy online and in-store. Fifteen analysts together rate the stock a Neutral, with an average target of $56. Two of the fifteen rate it a Buy, eleven rate it a Hold, and two rate it a Sell.

Three analysts raised their price targets on CarMax today, a Wednesday, after the earnings beat. Chris Bottiglieri of BNP Paribas kept his Underperform rating. He raised his price target from $33 to $48. John Murphy of B of A Securities also kept his Underperform rating. He raised his own target from $45 to $50. Craig Kennison of Baird kept his Outperform rating. He raised his target from $55 to $70.

Bottiglieri’s fast turns against Kennison’s longer runway

Bottiglieri’s 15-stock book spans consumer cyclical and consumer defensive names. It converts at 68.33%. His average realized upside runs 11.96% over an 85-day stretch, drawn from 83 price targets he has logged on those names. Kennison’s book converts at 65.77%. His average realized gain runs wider, at 30.15%, over a much longer 218-day stretch. Murphy covers a broader 36-stock book in the same sector, weighted to auto retailers and manufacturers. It converts at 63.72%, with average realized upside of 31.35% over 329 days, the longest average hold of the three.

MongoDB (MDB)

MongoDB makes database software. Its core product is a non-relational, document-based database. Its Atlas service runs that database in the cloud for companies building AI and other modern applications. The New York company carries a market cap near $27.16 billion.

MongoDB posted fiscal second-quarter results on September 1. EPS came in at $1.90 against a $1.61 consensus, a 29-cent beat. Revenue reached $771.8 million versus $735.16 million expected, per StreetInsider. The next report is due December 7. MongoDB also launched Atlas Agent Engine this week, a platform built for running AI agents in production.

MongoDB has been through a leadership change this week. President and CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai stepped down Monday to take a senior role at Meta. The board named Dev Ittycheria as interim chief. Ittycheria ran MongoDB as CEO from 2014 to 2025. The company kept its third-quarter and full-year guidance unchanged. It also held its planned investor day yesterday, a Tuesday, at the Nasdaq MarketSite. Twenty-seven analysts together rate the stock a Buy, with an average target of $465. One of the twenty-seven rates it a Strong Buy, twenty-three rate it a Buy, and three rate it a Hold.

Three analysts weighed in on MongoDB today, a Wednesday. Mike Cikos of Needham kept his Buy rating. He held his price target at $430. Kirk Materne of Evercore ISI also kept his Outperform rating and held his target at $525. Patrick Walravens of Citizens reiterated his Market Outperform rating and kept his $519 target unchanged. His note was the first published reaction to follow Tuesday’s investor day.

Cikos’s wider book against Materne’s steadier hit rate

Cikos covers a 37-stock technology and industrials book, built from 963 price targets and ratings he has logged over the years. It converts at 63.4%. His average realized upside runs 18.18% over a 112-day stretch. Materne’s narrower 30-stock book spans technology, healthcare and energy names. It converts at 71.68%, with average realized upside of 20.63% over a longer 155-day stretch. Walravens’ own record on MongoDB converts at 86.36%, the strongest of the three, with average realized upside of 38.25% over 150 days.

Cisco Systems (CSCO)

Cisco sells networking hardware, mainly switches and routers. It also sells security, collaboration and observability software layered on top of that hardware, including the Splunk platform it added in 2024. The San Jose company carries a market cap near $421.62 billion.

Cisco topped its fiscal fourth-quarter estimates in August. EPS came in at $1.22 against a $1.17 consensus, a nickel beat. Revenue reached $17.3 billion versus $16.82 billion expected, per StreetInsider. Cisco guided to a strong fiscal 2027 on AI-driven networking demand. The next report is due November 18. Cisco’s next ex-dividend date falls in two days.

Seventeen analysts together rate the stock a Buy, with an average target of $121. That sits about 14% above where shares closed Monday. Thirteen of those seventeen carry a Buy rating, and four rate it a Hold.

Bernstein SocGen Group started coverage on Cisco today, a Wednesday. Daniel Zhu opened with a Market Perform rating. His price target is $110, about 9% below the current Street average. Piper Sandler’s James Fish cut his own target to $125 from $132 on September 22, citing valuation.

A new name on Cisco’s coverage list

Zhu’s call is new to Cisco’s coverage list. It does not yet carry a track record on AnaChart. Deutsche Bank’s Gianmarco Conti started coverage on Cisco at Buy with a $135 target on September 1. HSBC’s Stephen Bersey upgraded the stock to Buy back in May, taking his own target to $137 from $77. Both moves came in well ahead of Zhu’s more measured start today.
