The QCT segment designs and supplies integrated circuits and system software based on 3G/4G/5G and other technologies for use in wireless voice and data communications, networking, multimedia, application processing, and global positioning system products. These products are used in a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and wireless routers.

The QTL segment grants licenses or provides rights to use portions of its intellectual property portfolio, which includes various patent rights useful in the manufacture and sale of wireless products. This includes products implementing CDMA2000, WCDMA, LTE, and/or OFDMA-based 5G standards and their derivatives. The company’s licensing business generates significant revenue and is a key driver of its profitability.

The QSI segment invests in early-stage companies across various industries, including 5G, artificial intelligence, automotive, consumer, enterprise, cloud, IoT, and extended reality. It also provides development and other services and related products to the United States government agencies and their contractors.

QUALCOMM has been a pioneer in wireless technology and has contributed significantly to the development of the 3G, 4G, and 5G standards that power modern wireless networks. The company’s technology is used by many of the world’s leading smartphone manufacturers, and it has a dominant position in the wireless chipset market.
