PayPal Holdings. is a leading digital payments company that operates a technology platform connecting merchants and consumers worldwide. The company provides a variety of payment solutions under several brand names, including PayPal, PayPal Credit, Braintree, Venmo, Xoom, PayPal Zettle, Hyperwallet, PayPal Honey, and Paidy.

The PayPal platform allows consumers to make digital payments in approximately 200 markets globally and in approximately 150 currencies. This broad reach makes PayPal a popular choice for cross-border transactions. Additionally, users can withdraw funds from their PayPal accounts to their bank accounts in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies, which further enhances the flexibility and convenience of the platform.

PayPal’s technology platform also offers other features, including fraud protection, data encryption, and payment dispute resolution, which help ensure that transactions are secure and reliable. Merchants can use PayPal to process payments on their websites, mobile apps, or in-person, and consumers can use the platform to send money to friends and family, pay bills, or make purchases from merchants.

PayPal acquired Venmo, a peer-to-peer payment app, and Braintree, a payment gateway for online and mobile commerce.

PayPal was founded in 1998 in California.
